Biography

    Mention Freddy Dixon to anyone and they know who he is. He is a legend in the Ottawa Valley and Canada. Freddy is well known as a singer/songwriter. His song, "Last Fatal Duel" was recorded by Stompin Tom Connors. He is also one of the remaining true rockabilly artists from the Sun Record Era. He is a member of the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall Of Fame. He has appeared with Lynn Anderson, Bobby Bare, Dave Dudley, Ronnie Prophet, Ronnie Hawkins and Stompin Tom Connors. Freddy was encouraged to play music by his mother, Jean Dixon, who played piano and guitar. He had an old RCA radio and from it came the great sound of the Sun Record artists like Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee lewis and Roy Orbison. The great rock and roll of Buddy Holly from Lubbock, Texas also mad a huge impression on him.
Freddy is of Irish descent, coming from Northern Ireland, namely the county of Tyrone. He has a love for his roots and culture. His songs, "Canada's Last Fatal Duel"and "The K and P Railroad Song", reflects this. Somwhere in there you'll hear a touch of Merle Haggard and a shot of rhythm and blues.
